  • Level:

This group class is for learners who have already built relatively solid foundations on the A1 level and are looking to progress to the A2. At this stage, they are able to take part in basic interactions, exchange information and talk about recent events, ongoing habits and future plans. At the Lower Intermediate I level we aim to solidify those foundations and gain more independence and confidence in our language skills.

The contents of this level would be ideal for those who have learned French in the past and are looking for a chance to use the language actively and remember some of what they may have forgotten. A.k.a., if your French is somewhat 'rusty', this would be a good place to start.

  • Approach:

Our classes follow a task-based communicative approach, where our learners develop their languages skills through active participation. This means learning by doing and accomplishing tasks. We cover language specific content – grammar, vocabulary, phonetics – within a specific context of communication. This way you know why you are learning that content, why it is important and what it allows you to do. Comprehension and production dimensions are prioritised in our group sessions and you would use the language in order to accomplish a specific task: whether it’s a description of your favourite actor/writer/sports person, a discussion about clothes and styles, or sharing past experiences and narrating stories.

  • Intercultural:

We’re constantly sharing cultural aspects from the ‘francophone’ world – this means not only European French, but also from Africa and the Americas. It is so interesting to analyse and compare expressions, festivities, music, food, etc. of a new culture to those of your own country. Quite often, understanding and appreciation of our own culture comes through the discovery of another. Our learners love to learn about songs, writers, types of food, jokes (especially dad jokes) in French.

  • Group setting:

A group class is an ideal context to develop and improve your language skills among peers of the same level. You can work on similar problems, work together to overcome common errors and benefit from everyone’s experience. It also allows for many different interactive activities.

  • Fun:

Learning a new language takes time and dedication, but it doesn’t mean it can’t be fun. For us, this is such an important dimension and we know that doing things with pleasure often leads to better results. We work hard to maintain a balance between fun an interesting classes that keep our learners engaged.
