Level:
This group class is for beginner learners with some experience with the language - those having completed the first three levels with us have an experience of about 30/40 hours of in-class learning. This class is designed for those who are still relatively new to Spanish and are keen to interact with other Spanish speakers. You'll be able to take part in basic interactions, talk about yourself and your usual activities, habits and hobbies. At this stage, we aim to explore new structures and tenses, mainly in the past, within a communicative approach. This means that you you can use your language skills actively as you develop them.
The content of this level correspond to the A1 level.
A main goal of ours is to help you become an incrementally confident and independent Spanish speaker.
Approach:
Our classes follow a task-based communicative approach, where our learners develop their languages skills through active participation. This means learning by doing and accomplishing tasks. We cover language specific elements – grammar, vocabulary, phonetics – within a specific context of communication. This way you know why you are learning those elements, why they are important and what they allow you to do.
Intercultural:
From the very beginning you’ll learn cultural aspects of the Spanish-speaking world. This includes differences between Spain and the many regions of Latin-America where Spanish is spoken. It is also highly interesting to analyse and compare expressions, festivities, music, food, etc. to those of your own country. Quite often, as you discover a new culture you understand and appreciate your own so much more. Our learners love to learn about songs, writers, types of food, jokes (especially dad jokes) in Spanish.
Group setting:
A group class is an ideal context to develop and improve your language skills among peers of the same level. You can work on similar problems, work together to overcome common errors and benefit from everyone’s experience. It also allows for many different options of interactive activities.
Fun:
Learning a new language takes time and dedication, but it doesn’t mean it can’t be fun. For us, this is such an important dimension and we know that doing things with pleasure often leads to better results. We work hard to maintain a balance between fun an interesting classes that keep our learners engaged. The feedback we get tells us that our learners enjoy the sessions thoroughly. And as teachers, so do we.
