  • Level:

This group class is for learners looking to build on solid foundations from the beginner level (A1/A2) and develop their language skills to become more independent and confident speakers. They can rely on their skills to efficiently take part in basic interactions, exchange information and refer to recent past event or near-future plans.

At this stage, we look to emphasise an active use of the language by providing situations that feel relatable and goals that feel achievable. This means using the language in context to accomplish tasks and solve problems.

This is a very interesting stage of a learner’s journey, as we aim to pair their knowledge and experience with active practice. We’re making sense of the language, connecting many dots and developing fluency.

If you have learned Spanish before and would like to challenge what you know in a group setting, this level would be an interesting place to join us.

  • Approach:

Our classes follow a task-based communicative approach, where our learners develop their languages skills through active participation. This means learning by doing and accomplishing tasks. We cover language specific content – grammar, vocabulary, phonetics – within a specific context of communication. This way you know why you are learning that content, why it is important and what it allows you to do.

Something particular about the upcoming sessions is a “flipped classroom” approach. The learner does some work prior to the lesson, based on something given by the teacher (i.e. a short text, a video, a grammar focus point, etc.). This requires the learner’s engagement and allows to us maximise the time in class for production and interaction in Spanish.

  • Intercultural:

We’re constantly sharing cultural aspects from the Spanish-speaking world. A very important aspect is the attention given to Latin American Spanish, not exclusively European. This has proven to be an enrichening and interesting approach for our learners. While the goal is to develop communicative skills that allow you to be efficient anywhere in the Spanish-speaking world, the attention given to local specificities includes learning about new expressions, festivities, music, food, etc.

Quite often, understanding and appreciation of our own culture comes through the discovery of another. Our learners love to learn about songs, writers, types of food,  or even ways to be funny in Spanish.

  • Group setting:

A group class is an ideal context to develop and improve your language skills among peers of a similar level to yours. You can problem-solve together, overcome common errors and benefit from everyone’s experience. It also allows for many different interactive activities, encouraging you to speak the language and be comfortable doing so. The group setting really makes this a safe space where making mistakes is nothing to worry about.

  • Fun:

Learning a new language takes time and dedication, but it doesn’t mean it can’t be fun. For us, this is such an important part of the journey and we know that doing things with pleasure often leads to better results. We work hard to maintain a balance between fun an interesting classes that keep our learners engaged.

  • Booking & cancelation policy

We kindly ask our learners to book their classes in advance. Payment options are available at checkout.

Please give 24 hours’ notice before the start of a class when unable to attend. Otherwise, the payment for the class will not be postponed. Any postponed class will need to be used within the same session/block (in this case, by 29th April, when the session ends).

The reason for this policy is to allow us to prepare the content, resources and activities for the class. This also helps us to pay for the spaces we hire to host our sessions.
